The GVPF’s newest program, Junior Police Camp, is a five-day Summer camp program for children aged 10, 11 or 12.
The first Junior Police Camp will have 30 participants, led by GVPF Police Camp Director Kim Basi, a retired Saanich Police officer. Kim will be supported by six Police Camp alumni mentors and six volunteer police officers.
Programming will be a combination of team building, physical activities including soccer, relays and more, along with presentations by police on gang crime (as a deterrent), traffic safety and staying safe online. There will be unique “police” elements to add some memorable experiences including a police dog demonstration and a CSI (forensics) exercise.
Junior Police Camp is free for participants and daily catered lunch, snacks and t-shirts will also be provided.
We are very grateful to St. Margaret’s School, for also allowing us to host Junior Police Camp on their grounds and in their incredible facility.
Junior Police Camp is funded through the generosity of our donors, including several who committed to the program after our inaugural event – Building Bridges – in November 2024. We are so grateful to them.
Space is limited to 30 participants – please apply now at https://gvpf.org/programs/junior-police-camp/. All applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by March 15, 2025.
