Junior Police Camp (Ages 10-12)
Building Young Students’ Self-Confidence & Interpersonal Relationships
The GVPF’s reintroduction of Police Camp in the Capital Regional District in 2023 has been an overwhelming success, with applications increasing every year.
In an effort to reach more youth in our community and to build more bridges between youth and police officers, we are pleased to announce a new program – Junior Police Camp!
This program will take place in July 2025 at St. Margaret’s School. It is a five-day summer camp open to students who are 10, 11 or 12 years of age at the time of the program. Participation in Junior Police Camp is free of charge.
Approved applicants will be provided with a t-shirt and snacks / lunch daily. Transportation to and from Junior Police Camp will be the responsibility of the parent / guardian(s) of the campers.
The inaugural Junior Police Camp will be very limited in space – only 30 applicants will be accepted.
Applications will include input from both prospective campers as well as their parent / guardian.
Activities and subject matters covered will include (but are not limited to):
- Team-building and collaboration
- Physical activities and focus on overall well-being
- Social media and online safety
- Anti-gang presentations
- Special police demonstrations including the Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team, Traffic Section
- Unique, hands-on experiences including in Forensics
- A graduation / completion ceremony at the end of the five days
