Second Annual Junior Police Camp Welcomes 30 Campers to St. Margaret’s School Campus

The Greater Victoria Police Foundation’s second annual Junior Police Camp, hosted at the beautiful St. Margaret’s School Campus, welcomed 30 campers aged 10 to 12 for four intensive days led by police officers from across the region. Campers moved through hands-on public safety learning, team challenges – and the kind of problem-solving that only works when you truly trust the people beside you. Some arrived shy. Most left louder. All of them left with a clearer sense of what they are capable of.

The standout elements were not only the thoughtfully prepared activities by Camp Director, Kim Basi. Police officers from across the region volunteered for the camp, and guest appearances by both chiefs and deputy chiefs reinforced the authenticity of this program. Alumni from our Senior Police Camp also came back as mentors, helping guide activities, settle nerves, and set the tone for the younger group. Youth who came through our programs are now the ones helping to deliver them! For a Foundation focused on leadership development, we believe this is evidence that our model is working.

Our thanks go to the sworn officers who volunteered their time, and to the GVPF alumni who stepped into mentorship roles with real generosity. Special thanks to St. Margaret’s School, our official Police Camp partner and host – we could not do it without you and your team!
