The third year of the re-imagined Greater Victoria Police Camp came to a positive and emotional close on March 22 as the 50 participants, selected from over 160 applicants, demonstrated discipline and teamwork during a special graduation ceremony attended by their families. By all accounts it was an incredible journey for these youth in Grades 10 through 12, along with the 100+ police volunteers who shared their time, passion and expertise to ensure the campers had an unforgettable week.
Over eight days, the students learned about a diversity of subject matter, all with the objective of helping to build confidence and resilience along with new life skills and perspectives. Strong bonds were built with the police members who shared their time at camp and the students arrived as strangers to each other and departed as family with new friendships to last a lifetime.
