Partners for Life Skills – the GVPF Mentorship Program

The GVPF Mentorship Program pairs a volunteer police officer with youth in Grades 10, 11 or 12, living in the Greater Victoria region. By fostering trusted and supportive relationships, our goal is to empower youth to achieve their full potential, work through challenges, build resilience, learn life-skills and observe and experience the positive outcomes that arise from service to one’s community.

The GVPF plans to establish at least 30 mentorship pairings in this first year, and so far we have been fortunate to receive 15 applications from regional police office to serve as volunteer mentors.

Students who applied for Police Camp 2024 but were not selected are encouraged to apply for the GVPF Mentorship Program.

We expect our pool of mentors to grow over the coming months as excitement and energy around the initiative continues to build.

The mentorship pairings will run for a minimum of one year, with the activities determined by the pairs themselves. The GVPF will cover all program-related costs, thanks to the generosity of our donors.

We encourage all youth to consider applying, at https://gvpf.org/programs/mentorship/apply/. Applications are open year-round and are assessed as they are received.
